Mr. Mohamed Amir has been appointed as Chief Executive of the recently established Telecommunications Authority of Maldives (TAM).

Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive of TAM, Mr. Amir has served both the Post and Telecommunication Section of the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology and TAM as Assistant Director General.

With a brilliant academic record, Mr. Amir has wide ranging experience and expertise in telecommunications engineering, telecommunication system management and design and in operational telecommunications.

Mr. Amir joined the telecommunications sector in March 1982 as a Technician Trainee, and climbed up the administrative hierarchy through his commitment, dedication and hard work. Known for his honesty and integrity, Mr. Amir is admired and highly respected throughout the sector.

Mr. Amir is a skillful negotiator and has played a key role in formulating the Maldives telecommunications policy, the Maldives Telecom Act, and in transforming the Post and Telecommunication section into a fully functioning regulatory agency. As young and highly competent administrator, with a high degree of technical and managerial skills, Mr. Amir is expected to inject new thinking and rationale to develop the telecommunication sector of the Maldives .
