The Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology (MCST) in cooperation with Ministry of Education and UNESCO, has embarked on a program to foster basic science concepts among the country’s primary and secondary school children.

In addition to developing basic concepts, these stimulating and innovative learning materials are designed to impart knowledge and understanding of science and technology and its underlying concepts, increase the children’s exposure to investigations, experimentation and to incorporate scientific thinking into their every day lives. These resource materials will also help children to improve and enhance their communication, application, learning and performance.

Under this program, MCST has procured a wide range of science and technology programs and materials designed and produced by professional organizations and institutions. The resource materials include video and audio tapes, interactive software and books. In the distribution of these resource materials, priority will be given to atoll schools.

The expected output of this program include; improved knowledge and understanding of concepts and sub-concepts of science subjects, better appreciation of science and technology, improved learning, communication, application and performance, and improved teaching skills among science teachers.
